Buttercup & Westley | The Princess Bride

The 1987 fantasy adventure comedy film The Princess Bride is the perfect classic fairy tale love story of a man looking for his true love. Westley was in a quest to find the woman of his dreams, and then, he had to save her after being separated for so long. Like any other folk tale, however, they have to go through the evils of Florin’s mythical kingdom before they can be finally reunited. Robin Wright and Cary Elwes get the credits for perfectly portraying their loved-up roles here.

It’s based on William Goldman’s 1973 novel with the same title, telling the story of a farmhand Westley and his true love who he has to save, Princess Buttercup, and these characters were brought to life by Robin and Cary. The film sticks to the book’s narrative, featuring a grandfather reading the novel to his sick grandson. The film got a lot of honors, including being inducted into the National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”
